GOT WOOD?
This Offshore Skiff designed by Dave Gerr met all of the requirements Glenn Joyner was looking for in a boat he could use to cruise the sound near his North Carolina home. Glenn wanted a boat that could comfortably sleep two, with standing headroom, head, and galley.
MY JUDIE
After building a pair of spoon blade oars, from instructions in WB 117, Judie and Jerry Soucie felt they needed a better boat than a Dyer Dink to work those oars.
BLACK DAMSEL
BLACK DAMSEL is a Ken Bassett Firefly design, plans from WoodenBoat. Bassett’s plans call for plywood fastened to stem, keelson and chine logs. I wanted to build this boat stitch and glue to simplify things and hopefully reduce the weight.
KINTSUGI
The plans are a Platt Monfort Classic 12′ that I stretched out to 13′. I beefed up the backbone a bit from the mast step to aft of the daggerboard trunk anticipating its sailing life. The lug sail, spars, daggerboard and kick-up rudder came from CLC BOATS as a kit for their Passagemaker Pram.
Coastal Rowing Single
Some pictures of a just completed build of a Coastal Rowing single that I will row on local waters on both sides of Vancouver Island, where I live.
RETREAD
My friend Will Craig rebuilt RETREAD using Okoume plywood. I bought her in 1988, sailed her for 18 years, then sold her in 2005 to pay for a bicycle tour. Last year, I bought her back and restored her over the winter.
LUNA
LUNA is a beautiful skerry from CLC boats. I built it myself here in São Paulo Brazil. It’s probably the first of her kind to be built here.
Corsair
Inspired by Philip Rhodes’ Bantam and Uffa Fox’s Jolly Boat, Corsair has a Suicide sail plan with a wishbone boom. The current mainsail was donated from Suicide #8, Joker. The underbody of the boat has a fine, deep entry with a long flat run which should plane easily.
