16 foot Truscott fantail launch

This extraordinarily graceful, and genuinely-rare, classic fantail launch is in mid-restoration with all new steamed white oak ribs (56), floors, keel, deadwood, sternpost, stern sheer plank, and most framing. The stem has been rebuilt and re-set. Otherwise ALL wood, including red cypress planking, is original to boat. The Kermath single engine is an early replacement retaining the original Truscott drive. All replacement fastenings are either copper rivets and roves; or silicon bronze, the latter commonly beeswax-coated. All hardware (except bow light) is original and complete, including all Truscott-patented canopy hardware, and factory-supplied cast brass lettering DOTTIE.

The original (or early replacement) striped/scalloped canopy is in tatters, but suitable for pattern. There are very fine, delicate, carved trailboards. Virtually all parts are original to the boat, and with few exceptions, almost all of those parts are restorable by the meticulous restorationist. All parts are boxed or bundled, and tagged. There are two Truscott factory plates. A less original twin to this remarkable boat is displayed on the main exhibition hall floor in the famed Deutches Museum in Munich; and identical or near-identical launches were apparently supplied by Truscott to the 1903 St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

Documentation: extensive photo gallery, parts inventory, and narrative description- by discretion, most are available by email. Also included are Truscott and Kermath catalogs with parts lists, etc. (reproductions, copies).

There is a fitted trailer with new wheels.
