1928, 40' William Hand V-Bottom Design Power Boat
“LOAFALONG” was built by Vicent Serio, designer of the Hampton One design sailboats in Hampton, VA 1928 (article in WoodenBoat issue 10-01-01). She has spent most of her life in Norfolk waters as a committee boat for the Hampton One sailing regattas, and part of the Norfolk Yacht Club events. Built of juniper and oak with batten seam construction using copper rivets, and powered now by a M80 Mercedes diesel engine, and Velvet Drive with reduction. She was re-fastened with silicone bronze screws in 2009. Her shaft, prop and cutlass bearing were replaced in 2007, and the rudder port, strut and shaft log removed, and re-bedded with new hardware. In 2005 a 30 amp 120 volt electrical panel and outlets were installed, and an icebox conversion added to the original one. The pictures attached are of her most recent haul in 2012, when her bottom and hull sides were painted. She has a solid hull bottom and sides. Her forward decks and aft cabin top wood is in good condition, but in need of repair from a poor covering attempt of fiberglass in the '70s. Too many details, photos, and documented history to post here. We are seeking someone who can purchase, and complete the work she requires. Asking price is $27,000.
