This Glen-L marine Zip runabout was built by Paul Vernes in "just over seven months....time was readily available but, to be quite honest, much of it was spent running around looking for wood. I decided to build my boat using local wood.
River Wrights Boat Builders in Hartford, CT is a no-profit program that teaches career skills and life skills to at-risk teens. Vi Beaudreau oversees the project, which was started by a graduate of the Apprentice Shop in Rockport, ME.
This Atkinson Traveler, designed by Rollin Thurlow, was built by Otey Smith at the Northwoods Canoe Co. in Atkinson, ME, under the supervision of Rollin Thurlow and Peter Wallace.
David Satter restored this 1931 Old Town Canoe in 2002, after paying just $100 for her at a yard sale in NJ. It is an Old Town 50-lb 15 model. He replaced 10 ribs and 30 feet of planking, and replaced the canvas; then gave her a new coat of paint and varnish.
James Gowen and his family launched this Catspaw Dinghy, BLUE LOBSTER, in their family pool at their home in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. BLUE LOBSTER was designed by Joel White, and is 12'8" long, with a 4'6" beam. James planked the hull with white cedar on oak frames.
Joe Greeley launched POGO, a Footy model designed by Flavio Faloci, in 2015. Since then, she suffered severe damage in an accident in 2017 and spent the last two years “on the hard” undergoing repairs.
February 11th 2017, we launched RoG in Lake Tarpon, Florida. She went on to compete successfully in the Everglades Challenge 2017, a RAID class event between Tampa and Key Largo FL, where she was one of only 2 boats to complete the event out of 9 entries in Sailing/Solo class.
