I’ve built 30+ boats as a hobby so I know enough to be dangerous. A few years ago someone decided I needed yet “another” project so they donated a 19402 era Chris Craft (I think) mahogany planked hull.

Jay Benford designed this 34'x11' sailing dory. Hugh Campbell of Winard Wood Ltd, Sidney, British Columbia, Canada built it for Alan Martienssen of Newark, England. Launched in July 2000, it was named ZEBEDEE after a British Cartoon character.
This is a kit-built stitch and glue kayak from the friendly folks at Chesapeake Light Craft, Annapolis, MD. The hull is constructed of okoume marine plywood. I elected to tackle the hybrid version which incorporates the tri-color cedar strip deck.
This is the 16ft version of the Sponge Docks Skiff Serie, built in wood/epoxy, specifically Meranti Hydrotec. She has a side console and a new Suzuki 40hp which got her up to 32mph.
Seventeen-year-old Manasseh Durkin built this 19' x 6'5"Sparkman and Stephens designed Lightning KELLY ANN in 2003-2004. Launched in April 2004, it is planked with cypress wood, with bronze fasteners. The deck is made of mahogany, and the spars are longleaf heart pine.
Jim Maas designed and built this 17'6" flat-bottomed skiff. Launched in the summer of 2001, it is the fourth boat he has built. He boats mostly in the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware River, but spent some of the summer at Lake Newboro, Ontario, where he says that wooden guide boats are not uncommon.
Winnie is an Alcort Standard Sailfish built in the 1950s in Waterbury, CT. She came to us mid restoration from New York, we painted her and put her back together. She will sail in a whisper of a breeze and keeps you on your toes when the breeze picks up.
