Can she be sailed without the stern sail? (Excuse my beginners ignorance of the correct name.)

Yes, you can sail with just the main.

Thanks Scot. I'm thinking more and more that this is the boat for me. Not sure when I will be able to afford to start, and would like to buy the kit that is available just to save time, especially as a first time boat builder. I have done a lot of woodworking, and have always thought this would be the ultimate project. Not to mention living on the Oregon coast gives me a great opportunity to make use of this boat for lakes and river fishing. From what I've read, sounds like she would take a small motor as well. Love the idea of sailing some quiet secluded lakes, teaching the grand kids along the way. Can't wait!
