![]() Northwest Passage XL Northwest Passage XL plans are for the larger paddler with more power who just can't find a boat that fits. She has more stability and more foot-room as a stretched Northwest Passage, designed to have the best features and lowest drag for touring because she has a shallow vee hull and round bilges. She tracks straight as an arrow and turns with a gentle lean. This 18'-8" long boat is cut from 3 sheets of 4 mm marine plywood and assembled on a simple mold. She weighs only 47 pounds. Materials cost around $450 and she takes about 130 hours to build. Not for the first time builder.
