Petrel

Designed for playing in rough open ocean water but suitable for ponds, bays, lakes and rivers, the Petrel is inspired by the original kayaks built by the Inuit people of Greenland. The hull has moderate rocker, chines that flow from soft near the bow to hard behind the cockpit. The design is very stable in rough conditions despite the narrow width that allows for easy, efficient paddling. The deck is kept low to stay out of the wind but is roomy where it needs to be for all-day comfort. The cockpit is large enough for easy access, but provides a fitted design for secure connection to the boat. The Petrel design is a great day-paddling boat for 170 to 220 lbs paddlers who want to play in rough conditions but is also well suited for lighter paddlers (down to 110 lbs) who want an easy to handle boat that is not oversized. The classic lines of the Petrel are striking. Don't build it if you don't want to talk to admirers in the parking lot before you go paddling.
