Kitty Hawk 18

An outboard powered Carolina-Style center console, the Kitty Hawk 18 is designed to be a beautiful, inshore fishing boat. Her bow has all the flare and her stern the tumblehome that is characteristic of boats built along the coast of North Carolina's Outer Banks. She can be built from either a plan set with full size frame patterns or a CNC cut kit. Framing consists of longitudinal stringers and frames cut from 18mm Meranti marine plywood. Her planking is two layers of 6mm Meranti set in epoxy and covered with fiberglass.

Her layout is straightforward center console and can easily be customized. Up forward is a small casting platform with storage below. Her console is large enough for flush mounted electronics and can be built with a raised helm "bubble". Aft she features a full height motorwell for safety.

Recommended power is a 90hp outboard, which should give her speeds in excess of 35mph. Her fuel capacity is 37 gallons carried in an aluminum tank mounted below deck.
