17' Wherry

Vesper — 17' x 50" flat-bottomed cruising wherry, lengthened from Walt Simmons' Christmas Wherry design. Home-built 2024, glue-lapped okoume over white oak ribs, bottom and garboard sheathed in epoxy-sealed Dynel. Proven in 6–7' seas off Newfoundland without taking on water. Piantedosi sliding rowing rig, Dreher carbon oars. Fully outfitted for extended cruising — mooring gear, camping setup, safety equipment included. Full equipment list and photos on website.
