1956-58 Pointe Claire Yacht Club 19' Sloop by C.D. Mower

"Waxwing"... 19 foot centerboard fractional sloop.

Built between 1956 and 1958 (best guess by the previous owner) by Hatley Craft (also known as Hatley Craft Marine and Manufacturing Company) which was a historic boat builder based in North Hatley, Quebec, Canada. The Pointe Claire Yacht Club still exists today, and I believe this is only one of two boats of this design left. Mower (Charles Drown Mower, 1875–1942) was a prominent American yacht designer, naval architect, and marine author. He shaped early 20th-century American sailing through influential one-design classes, instructional building books, and leadership roles in major East Coast yacht clubs.

The boat was rebuilt in ~2020 in Canada by a long time craftsman and carpenter, (I have photos of he rebuild) and I believe his brother had the other existing boat, and sold it back to the PCYC. I have done some additional work by adding a mahogany coaming, the electrical system (had to install a motor to be safe sailing on the Hudson River), main sheet and jib sheet travelers and other smaller bits. Cedar on oak carvel plank, mahogany cockpit and coaming, ash tiller, original Sitka spruce mast and boom, a mix of original brass and new stainless steel fittings, rigging and hardware. 24V/12V electrical system. 2 mains, 4 jibs (one brand new storm jib) and 2 spinnakers. Kept high and dry in it's own shed in winter and kept on the Hudson River at the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club during summers (there now).
