The Dory Shop

Built at the historic Dory Shop in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, this little Banks dory is a perfect boat to introduce youngsters to rowing and sailing. At just 11′ on the bottom and 14′ 8″ LOA, we call her our Black Rocks dory and she’s especially popular with female and youth rowers. Why? At this size, a dory’s small enough to be handled by a child but big enough to be rowed by two adults. Also, this boat weighs less than 250 lbs, so it isn’t as unwieldly on land as our larger dories, yet still heavy enough to provide a good, safe platform to learn to row or sail. Outfitted with easy-to-use balanced lug rig, centerboard, rudder and one set of oars. Other models also available. and offering dory building classes.
