Don't laugh, now. They're insufferably cute and the people who sail them do it out of deep affection.

Just look for the photos of the roll tacks!

Work for me. They start out with the skippers meeting, then go on to the awards, since I use the same wide angle camera for those, and after that the photos of the actual sailing begin.

Nice job, again! Pretty little boats, and again, I didn't get mine up there.

More photos here in a link from the Chatham Yacht Club's site: http://robberghphotography.com/keyword/beetlecat#617327505_WeiAE

I've never been to that club (only Stage Harbor YC) but it looks like a great place to sail Beetles. I love the beach mooring situation where everyone wades out to their boats.

One of the best boats I ever owned. You can sail by yourself, with three other adults or a group of kids taking up the equivalant amount of space (the most I ever had on mine was myself and four ten year olds), your dog, a baby, or any combination of those. All in a boat that'll tow behind anyone's car or fit in any garage. You can sail it in deep water or in a teacup. Really it's just about perfect, UNLESS you want to drysail it. When I went by the shop Charlie York told me that it would be a big mistake to try and drysail mine, but I drysailed her. He was right. In the end I just stopped using her and sold her to some very nice people who post here.

I might be interested in another one day, but not the true Beetle. It'd have to be built of glassfibre to work where I live (we don't do moorings here), but the design is pretty close to perfect as far as I am concerned.

Mick,

If I were to (eventually) get a fg cat boat, this would be the very one. Crosby built a handful of them and they are sweet sailors for the type and good looking in a business-like way. Love the oval coaming. The owner of this boat cut his asking price close to half recently: http://www.areyspondboatyard.com/boatsforsale/picture.pl?boat_id=24410&return=class_search.pl

Excuses, excuses. Why not? You can see we have a lot of fun and it's not particularly expensive. Happens every year, different place. Next year it may be in West Falmouth. Beetle cats chasing each other around in Buzzards Bay!

Dave, that one looks just about perfect, with a good price to boot!

I haven't been around much lately, but those pics were a great welcome back.

I've always said that Beetles were the one one-design class I could really get on board with. Now I just need to pick up and move to the cape!
