Ok typical newbie here looking for help .Trying to decide on what boat to build . Simple and cheap . Will be used inshore and nearshore in eastern north carolina waters [morehead city area]. Large enough to handle an 85 hp motor [ which i alrready have ] .
I am a decent carpenter and have built some small flatbottom boats over the years mainly by rack of eye from some existing versions of boats my dad built .I have looked at the v-hull carolina dories from spira international . Anyone hae any experiance with these? or better sugestions . thanks in advance

Everyone wants to build a boat, cheap and simple. Look at what everyone else,in you area, is using. Eliminate the rediculous and the expensive, what you have left is what you need.

Why don't you post a few links to your current favorite designs -- that will help us understand your requirements. Length? Uber-cheap to last a few years, or something better?
