The wife and I took two other people (boatless) from the club. Got the rails wet for the first time this season. Wet with salt water, there has been plenty of rain. Remembered how to reef. All in all a great time.

Happy for you. I took the ketch out on thursday for a glorious evening sail. Gentle north wind, reaching under a clear sky. Moored at sunset, had a drink and some soup by lantern light. These are the days that pay for all this time and money.
Sounds like a nice sail - any idea of the name of the Swede? I haven't contacted any of the east coast owners yet.

It sure is prime sailing time right now. Clint and I had a nice evening sail on Talisman last night and the whole family went out this afternoon for a birthday sail for Mary. Nice and cool, plenty of wind, lots of sunshine, just perfect.

I had a good sail today too. We beat out the Western Way of the great harbor on Mount Desert island under mizzen and genoa rolled up three turns. We had the tide against about a 20-25 knot breeze. We managed 7.4 knots SOG through the 4-6 foot seas. Took the first spray of the season on deck. After we got about a mile outside the islands we turned around and ran back in and continued across the great harbor and half way up Somes Sound. On the beat out of Somes Sound we once again saw 7+ knots SOG. All in all we covered just over 11 miles in a just over two hours. Not bad for a full keel ketch with the main under the sail cover. We finished up the day by relaxing on the mooring for an hour watching the late afternoon sun.

The Bolger fleet went up the Annisquam river today, guided by Susanne, to see Phil's old haunts - the Montgomery boatyard, his house, the dock where he used to keep his boat. A champagne day, smooth water, sparkly light, a wonderful sailing breeze, tacking our way through the reedy estuary shallows. Sailing his home waters gave us insight into his designs - they all loved being at home there, and it felt like he was smiling on us. I couldn't take many pix, but I hope others will post.

That was indeed a great day Howard, and many thanks to you for allowing me to crew aboard Lilly Catchpole. She sails wonderfully. I had a great time, but I guess Mason Smith had some problems.

Did Chris Brunette show up at Blackburns? He hopped aboard the Bagger after you guys left and we sailed for another hour or so, back up the creek and in amongst the bars and shallows as the tide fell, pulled out at the stone pier as the breeze was dying and the clams were squirting. I had to hit the road but he said he was going to try and catch the crew at the tavern.

Speaking of good sails
got out on Gloucester Harbour tues. afternoon in the Booth Bay Harbour Onedesign Loon, 21' 1930's era finkeel type go fast, lots of fun.
I rebuilt the Mast for Roger last winter and was happy to finally get out for a great sail.
We droped the mooring at the Art colony sailed around the peninsula there and past the paint factory heading for the fishermans monument we tacked and sailed up behind 10 pound Island then hit some good wind 20 mph +-and 4-5 ft chop beyond the Island, sailed to the east gloucester shore behind the breakwater then ran home up the harbour in 1/2 the time ti tok to get out. Incredible dramatic clouds, nice afternoon

You had the good weather Daniel, but today was OK too! Cloudy but doing 5+ with topsail set maybe blowing 10 from Marblehead headed SSW toward Cohasett, up to 6+ touching 7 as the breeze built and held for the rush back to the Sound. Cool without the sun, but very nice with the stove going and the kettle on. Not so bad.
