Well, after hesitating for some three years, I've gone and purchased the plans for Joel White's Flatfish (an enlarged Haven). I am sure that I'm in for the long haul - I'll try to keep you all posted on whatever progress I make. Are there any other Forum readers out there who have built this boat? I would love to hear from you. Thanks.
PS Wish me luck!

"Luck"! (Looking forward to hearing about your progress... Don't let yourself get too wrapped up in being "ready" before you start. Does it need to be lofted first, or does it come with patterns like the Haven? Either way, clear out a space and start getting that setup put together. Nothing as inspiring as seeing the shape start to come together. Also a lot harder to procastinate once all that space is "comitted"...)

Art, Thank you for the response. I do (one does) need to loft the Flatfish plans - no patterns. I've read articles and books by Greg Rossel, Bud McIntosh, and now Alan Vaitses on lofting. I feel good that I "get it." I've also "lofted" a simple stitch and glue kayak (pretty easy). Anyway, I am excited to start. I see you're building a Dark harbor 12 1/2, another beautiful boat. How's it coming? Any pictures?
