I have started work on a wild idea that i am builing the sportster that I have found plans to. But instead of making it a small power boat, with an outboard on it. I am making a prop driven paddle boat. for my wife and I. My troubles are how or what are they using for seals where the shaft enters the hull I.E. (V-drive) , exp. when i am dealing with a ply hull. any ideas or photo's i would appr. it thanks

This will get you started: http://www.glenwoodmarine.com/Catalog/SHAFT%20LOG.pdf
Once you know the angle needed, you can cut the hole (use a ships auger) and mate a shaft log to the inside of the hull for that angle.
Here are some photos (this one is first in a series) showing one way to tackle the hole: http://www.pbase.com/bartenderdave/image/88719654
The photos are for a 20-ft inboard. For a smaller boat, things are simpler and easier. Keep on until you see the shaft log installed: http://www.pbase.com/bartenderdave/image/88719793
More imposing in the contemplation than in the doing. As you can tell, my first shot was a failure, but it cleaned up and the second shot is perfect.
