Hello, all -
I was looking at the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation and on their website they have pictured a 33' Laurent Giles cutter that was recently saved. The link is attached here. This boat is just about the most beautiful thing I've seen in a long while. I have contacted Laurent Giles Co. asking them if this drawing is in fact one of theirs, how to get plans, etc., with no response from then.

Does anyone know anything about this design, this drawing, this boat? Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks much. And thanks to the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation for saving this marvelous boat. I just wish I had known about it before it was gone.

The drawing does not look at all like any Giles design that I have seen.

On the other hand, several Giles boats were built in Italian yards.

Still, after another hard look, I would say, "Not Giles". Mast too far forward, un-Giles-like counter, wrong looking coachroof.

I thought the same thing. I'd point to the stem. Even on Pilot Cutter inspired designs Giles has a curved stem profile.

I even took a look at the Lee and Philpott book. The closest looking boat is Wanderer III and that's nothing like the line drawing.

Jack,

The drawing in the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation "saved" sticker is generic, they used it on several listings. It is not a Giles design, more likely US in origin. Contact the WBRF for information on where the drawing came from.
