I think I'm in love! There is a photo in a book I have called "Yachting's Golden Age" by Ed Holm on page 24 of a 28-foot gaff keel cutter called Vashti . She might be the one (for some day, when my ducks are all lined up and such)!

Is anyone familiar with the design or know where I can learn more about her? All the book says is that she was owned by S.G.W. Benjamin around 1888. I'll try to scan a photo soon and post it.

Great book too. Full of fantastic prints from ~1880-1905.

Any info apreciated!

Jeff

Good mornin' Jeff!

How are things going?

Looks like you're in "it's-winter-what-do-I-want-to-dream-about-building" mode. Me too.

You got it. I'm working now on getting my shop in order so I can get to work on finishing the dory. However, this boat Vashti really caught my eye. What are you up to this winter. Major projects under way?

Not much, other than working 45 hours a week since late Auguast, getting married in early October and now we're working on buying a house with at least a one boat workshop (shhhh...Marilyn thinks it's called a garage and is used for cars, isn't she silly?).

So post the pictures of Vashti already. I've been browsing W.P. Stephens Traditions and Memories of American Yachting
