As a very young boy (40+ years ago, and that's all I'm tellin') my dad and I fished for salmon with my uncle in his Pacific City Dory, designed by George Calkins. That boat kept us alive through numerous excersions across the Columbia River and Depoe Bay bars trolling for salmon. It is my dream to build this same dory, but I called Mr. Calkins only to find he has no records of this dory.
Mr. Calkins called it the Pacific City Dory. It was a 20' long, double ended, with a well mounted outboard. If anyone has any plans for this boat and would like to part with them (or a copy) for a reasonable price, please let me know.

Thanks for the heads up, Ironmule. I already have that issue, and it was the Calkins ariticle that convinced me that he designed my uncle's boat. I looked back through some email exchanges with the knowledgable Mr. John Kohnen (Truly, the absolute last word in nautical links... thanks, John!), and sure enough, he had suggested months ago to call Mr. Calkins. The Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op was good enough to put me in touch with him, and Mr. Calkins confirmed that he had designed our dory. Too bad he didn't keep any records of that boat. I'm still looking....
