Does anyone know which issue of Rudder magazine had the plans and how to build article for this Bob Steward design? I think it was in the 1950's.

Is this the one? If so, you can buy the plans on the web.

SUSAN ... This easily-propelled 11-ft. flat-bottom rowboat requires little boat building know-how to construct.

I don't know if this will help any, but there is a write up on Susan in BDQ #8.

Donn has hit on a source for plans, but I'll bet if you contacted the Maine Maritime Museum they would know about the article you're looking for. 'Susan' used to be their stock skiff for a first time build in their apprentice program.

I don't think the folks now at the Maine Maritime Museum would know much about the SUSAN skiff since it was built by the Apprenticeshop program which moved away from there long (decades) ago to Rockland, Maine (with some stops in between). If they are still making the SUSAN they probably do it off a mold and patterns. Get the plans from the source Donn identified for you, but contact Kevin Carney, the boatbuilding instructor at www.atlanticchallenge.org (http://www.atlanticchallenge.org) or .com for help with building ideas.
