Trying to find info on our 1942 ketch. The last survey that I have is from 1986. It indicates that it is a wuspect Hanna Gulfweed. Can anyone tell me what "Wuspect" refers to?

this is from the survey by W.R Falkenberg - Wilmington, CA 1986

The Gulfweed was designed by John G. Hanna in 1923. Length overall (outside stem to outside transom) is 27'0", waterline is 21'0", beam is 9'0". She was designed with three different underbodies, deep keel with a draft of 48", shallow keel at 38", and a centerboard at 28". Sail area for the gaff ketch rig is 366 square ft. Displacement is approximately 6000 pounds with 1100 in the outside ballast keel. Cabin headroom is 4'6".

All the best,TAd

Thanks for your input. The boat I have is 40' LOA
33'LOD 11.3' Beam and draws 4'11". With your info I am no longer sure that she is a John Hanna design. Built 1942 Wilmington Boat Works - Wilmington, CA. Having a real tough time finding any history. US Doc # 260964. Any direction in my quest from you or others would be appreciated

Hanna designed the original 27' Gulfweed in 1923 for a series of articles in Yachting, allegedly as a "better version" of the Seabird design in the Rudder at the time.

Four years later he designed a 33'6" enlarged version called the "enlarged version", funnily enough smile.gif

These were taken by the former owner last summer. Before hurricane Charlie. She suffered some damage to her bow which is being repaired at this time.
