Small boats, mostly just on paper, lately. When I get a permanant home (or semi permanant, at least) with a shop, I'll have plenty of designs to choose from. My latest are a 21'-8" canoe yawl, a 12' sprit sailed dinghy, a sailing canoe, and right now I'M drawing construction plans for a 24' sharpie, that was inspired by a forum members posting hull pics of a Karl Stambaugh design. It's designed to go together with stock lumber, saving the builder alot of tooling and time, but still requiring carful craftsmanship. As far as types of construction, so far I've played with strip, carvel, and plywood construction. From a builders perspective, I like traditional methods most. However, knowing all types somehow seems to help with a simplicity of my designs.
About the post you mentioned. Yes, I think it a good idea too. It would make a great reference for us boat folks and could be compiled and edited into an encyclopedia of designers, (or added to the current one being worked on.) As far as web versions, I think the edited versions should be duely noted by editor.

...It would make a great reference for us boat folks and could be compiled and edited into an encyclopedia of designers...Not long ago we had a thread talking about the advantages of a Wiki or similar technology over the threaded discussion of a forum...it would be great if Scot would look into that.
Check out Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boat_building) as an example of the great use of this technology. Allows contribution & editing by anybody who wants to participate.

Sounds like a bad idea. (Allowing anyone to edit information.)

Yes, rogue posters could be a problem, but with enough active participants the community polices itself. Besides, the WBF allows any yahoo to post today. ;)
Also, some sites (I think Wikipedia) essentially allow anybody to 'propose' revisions which are then submitted for a kind of peer review - the reviewers being people who have developed a reputation among participants of creating/reviewing/approving content appropriate to the subject.
