She's got built in wooden sponsons .Of course these stiffen the boat when she's rail down and also create comfy side decks for hiking out .It's thought the boat is from the early 1900's but no one's really worked on her yet and gotten to the bottom of things .Ever seen one like it ? It was tough to photograph in the little tent .

Hi Bill,

Looks like a typical square-end canoe with sponsons. These were usually used with outboard motors though it looks like a mast seat can be seen, so it may have been set up for sailing as well. Several manufacturers built similar boats - this one is probably an Old Town, which built them from 1930 into the 1970's.

If you can locate the serial number, which will found stamped on the inboard upper face of the stem, post it the serial number forum (http://forums.wcha.org) and one of the volunteers should be able to provide the original build record.
