This is my maiden post in this forum, if I err in some way please feel free to harshly enlighten me. I am simply seeking information about Ted Brewers Mystic sharpie. Anyone who has been aboard one or built one, or has photos I would greatly appreciate it. Daniel from Maine

That design catches many an eye!
I have that boat, well a picture at least, in my 'Sharpie File'.
I only know the one photo - and you can find that on Brewer's web site.
See also his book 'Understanding Yacht Design' - it is a great primer and gave me a good understanding of the sharpie hull and what it can and cant do - plus the other hull shapes as well.
Read also www.thomasecolvin.com (http://www.thomasecolvin.com) website - he has some good sharpies - great discussion as well.
www.parkermarine.com (http://www.parkermarine.com) also has some sharpies worth looking at.

Thank you for the reply. I have read a few publications on this design(The Sharpie Book, Pocket Cruisers for the Backyard Builder, etc.)and look forward to viewing your links. I also purchased a copy of Karl Stambaugh's Windward 24'study plans, before I purchase any plans I would like to hear from someone with knowledge of the design. thanks again.
You err not! Keep posting, especially if it's about sharpies. I am also hot for this design, Brewer's Mystic. I got this photo - I forget from whom - a while back. It doesn't show too much, but it's something.

I have plans for Mystic and am ready to start building this summer. Hopefully, I'll have something to show for it before too long. In so many ways, it's a great boat - so many advantages for shallow water (Chesapeake Bay) daysailors-who-want-to-be-cruisers like me.

Good luck with the construction. I would love to see some progress photos. Keep us posted over the summer.
Sorry - I don't know why that image won't show.....? I give up.

Nels,
You have to use <> symbols around your tag. Also, the tag must say img src="locationofsaidphotograph"
Even so, I still couldn't see the photo even if I tried using just the URL.
Here's a pic while I was sailing on the York River.

Daniel,
I considered that design and received a photo from Ted Brewer which follows. I think you get a few more details in ordering the plans direct from him and support.

Has anyone sailed on a Mystic sharpie? How do they sail? Has anyone cruised in one? How comfortable are they? Is the cockpit big enough? Just some of my questions..

If I squint my eyes a lot the photo of that Brewer Sharpie looks a lot like my Shearwater Yawl, TRUE NORTH.
One of my favorite features of Shearwater, and the Dovekie which preceeded her, is the easy way they take the shore. We do it frequently.
