View Full Version : PLEASE HELP!!
Hello
This is my first post and I would like to ask you for help.
Well things are like this I have wooden cutter from 50?s she looks like boats designed by Alan Buchanan but I heard that she was designed by German designer Thiller or Tiller or something like that ( I am not sure haw it is spelled) so if there is anyone who knows more about it I would be very grateful for any information. Sorry if my English is too bad but I did my best , please take in consideration that I am from Croatia.
Welcome, Maritimo. Do you have digital photos of the boat?
Well Donn not at this moment but tomorrow I?ll get some photos of my beauty . My biggest problem is that I am only 22 year old so my friends don?t know anything about it older don?t have time and will to tutorial me and in Croatia we do not have any papers about classic boats I know some thinks about my ship but I would like to know more so I hope that this is a place to find out more.

You will find plenty of friends here who are three times as old as you and one who is nearly four times as old so you've come to the right place. I won't know anything about your boat but I look forward to seeing your pictures.
Best wishes.

MARITIMO, your English if fine. If I can decipher the words of some people from Australia  Croatian English should be a snap. :D
Please do take some photos and follow the directions written by some of our members on how to post.
Use the SEARCH function shown on the upper right hand corner of most every page in the Forums and enter "Posting Photos" without the quotes.
Or email them to Donn or me and We/I will be happy to post them here for you.
Most people list their email address in their Profile.
Good Luck and Welcome to our happy group of wooden boat lovers.

Hello Maritimo, and welcome.
I have emailed the German Maritime Museum on your behalf. I have also done a search from their website. The designer's name is possibly Artur Tiller. I don't understand German, and the search results are not available in English. Here is the link: http://www.vzlbs.gbv.de/cgi-bin/nph-wwwredir/193. 174.240.23:1994/ (http://www.vzlbs.gbv.de/cgi-bin/nph-wwwredir/193.174.240.23:2725/) At the bottom of the page in the blank box, type in Tiller, choose Personnanem from the right-hand drop-down menu, and click Suchen. Don't know how much help it will be.
Good luck!

And here's (http://www.adria1934.com/) a yacht designed by Artur Tiller.
MR Garrett I am really grateful for all the effort you have put in to help me, now I have the fundament to began my research and I hope I ll manage to make my ship as I want it and that is as original as possible. All my life I am at see even professional (I am a deck officer) and I always looked at those new ships with great admiration but as year passed I realized that all that admiration is over when next model comes but that classic beauty stays forever so from day to day my passion for classic sailing ships and old merchant navy ship is getting stronger and stronger. The fact that there is so many of you who prefer wooden classic ships rather than new age confection and also willing to help total stranger only because we share same love is making me very happy. Thanks again and I hope with time I ll be able to help some one and to discus with you on same level.

Maritimo, I'm happy to help, if it helps. The pretty girls (and boats) get all the attention! But good luck, and keep us informed. I'd love to see more pictures, and to know her specifications (length, displacement, sail area) and design name.

Don't worry about your English. I've been speaking it for 53 years and I still can't get it right.
Welcome!
