I am trying to get hold of Karl Stambaugh's plans for a Redwing 18 which I believe was based on an earlier design by H Chapell about 1940.Can anyone put me in touch with Mr.Stambaugh from far away here in Oz?

WB sells the plans. They are listed in the catalog. You can find Stambaugh's website in the site links on the homepage.

Oh, no you don't. You don't get off that easy. You can't come here, ask a question, go build a boat and not share it with us. No sir. No way.

We have friends in Oz. And we'll use 'em! You gotta send pictures of the project while you're building it!

Including pictures of whatever you use for a boat shop.

Good luck with the project!

Oh, and by the way - welcome to the forum!

Not exactly one of the Redwing series, but close---I'm building Karl's Puffin 28, which looks like an over grown Redwing 26, except it's a v-bottom displacement cruiser. Looks very similar, but bigger all around, at 28'LOA, 9-6 beam, 6500# displacement.

I was interested in the Redwing 26, but after talking with Karl, decided the 28 suited my purposes better, which is more open water than the Redwings are designed for. Also, Puffin is an inboard diesel.

There's a picture of the model I built in another thread here:

If you're interested in seeing the actual boat (so far) I've set up a website to follow construction. I just finished the keel-deadwood, the last 'construction thing' that needs to be done. Making and installing keel bolts today. I'll have to wait until spring now to complete the bottom (FG taping the chines, etc) and for roll-over.

The website is at: http://personal.riverusers.com/~emkay/puffwelcome.html
