I asking for some advice. I sail, as a volunteer, on two tall ships (www.gazela.org www.kalnyc.org) (http://www.kalnyc.org)) and am trying to create some un-offical crew shirts. I'm looking for copyright-free (or low cost) computer formated drawings that I can use in making the t-shirts.

I have found iron-on transfers that I can make with my inkjet printer and plan to make them for the un-official use of the crews. Ideally, the drawings should be of a ship with square sails and show running/standing rigging. Line drawings transfer better to t-shirts than do photographs.

As you think of sites, I should warn that these are "Crew Shirts" and not official shirts. I would not like to use an image of a national treasure on one of these shirts. They will have "irreverent" saying like:

Salty Dog ShipRigging Inc.
<ship picture>
Whip Me, Seize Me, Lash Me

or

Sailor Girls Know Their Lines
<ship picture>
We hear them in every bar

or

Sailor Guys Know Their Lines
<ship picture>
We use them in every bar

I'll send a t-shirt to the person who provides the drawing we use.

Thanks in advance for your time

Russell: The sites wouldn't open. What type vessels are these ? Someone has posted a nomenclature diagram in an earlier post, numbered sails, rigging , etc. Might not hurt to have any new crew wearing a "cheat sheet". Looking forward to the pictures that I'm sure you will post, and the responses.

After many hours searching for clip art for my daughter's grade 6 projects here is a link that may yield some results. Most of it is free of royalty stuff.

Oh my god another gazela volenteer!!!!!!!

I like it!

There are several sets of Gazela's lines available. I have a copy on some stationary that could be made larger. I don't remember where I got the stationary, but I am sure If you ask around on the ship someone would tell you.
