old corvette boats?

I'm looking for info on old corvette boats
I think the first year was 1957? I thought I saw one on a canal near my house? I rideing
my bike along a path that borders the canal and in the distance I hear the distictive purr of a fuel injected corvette motor but I was to far away to see the boat clearly. The owner took off to quick to see anything. Legend has it their were corvette styled boats made. they looked like a cross between a barrelback runabout and a crackerbox. I hear thay had fuel line problems and 70% of them are gone do to fire. Can anybody help me? Tom

I believe this is more along the lines of the boat you are looking for.....1954 Custom Craft "Corvet" I've been looking for one for some time now. I have given up and am going to build one from scratch......Let me know if not I've got more pics where that came from....... email me and I'll send you a pic.
