Captain Pre-Capsize

I just got a note today from the man himself. Here is the latest:
1. The new catalogue is due out in a month or so. It will include the latest refinements such as...
2. A new Ness Boat renamed "Tirrik". The original measured 16'6" X 5'2". This new version named after the Common Tern uses the Shetland version of expression. It now measures 16'10" X 5'4".
3. Galloway Faering is 10% longer and 5% fatter than Elf.
4. Revised J II design (originally called Jeanie II, named after Iain's mother) is now called Arctic Tern.
5. Whilly Boat has become Little Tern.
6. Revised Ness Boat nearly was named Common Tern but Iain said, "Sounds a bit 'common'..." and so went with the Shetland name for the Common Tern which is Tirrik.
He notes that, "These new names also emphasise that these are completely new designs."
More: "So the Tirrik is pretty much a shortened-up Arctic Tern (18' X 5'4"), with the simpler four strake planking scheme, and the lower and more comfortable side benches. And without the mizzen-yawl rig option, which hardly seems worthwhile in this size."
He mentions in his hand written note to me that, "Lug rig is a lot simpler, and less crowded with 3 or 4 aboard. Mizzen seems a waste of time!"
This now concludes my duty to my forum. Glad to be of service to the greater Wooden Boat community!
