Anyone familiar with the schooner designs of a Frenchman named Daniel Bombigher? He has designed several "modernized" versions of Dutch and American Schooners-many have been built both by home builders and by yards and rumour has is they are fast, seaworthy and pretty-all the elements I seek! Anyone have any kind of knowledge or experience with these designs or the designer?

There was a WB article a few years back. Nice romantic look but I've no personal experience.

Well, I've been nearly around the world on this internet looking at boat designs, but I've never seen this one. I'll have to admit, this is one of the coolest sites I've seen! Good pictures and descriptions always give me a better mental picture of the actual boat than just the lines plan.
I like when someone goes with his own ideas about design. It keeps things interesting.
Thanks Dragon and Dingo!

I know, I loved the site too-got me all excited and I almost sent him a check to start on one of the fifty footers-then I took a deep breath and figured I'd try and see if anyone has ever seen or sailed one of these things!!

Check out Joel White's review of one of Bombigher's designs in WoodenBoat. I seem to recall that Joel had some problems with some of the structural details.

Thanks Shane!,
I tried getting on his site a coupla weeks ago (I love to look at his drawings......his plans may be worth it just for the artwork!!!). I could not get to it. That little 20 footer is interesting..............
I'd like to see more deisgns from some of the French designers. There was a little picture of a 21 foot french design in Watercraft.....It was one of the particiapant in the Great Glen Raid a year maybe two ago......again, I suspect that we're missing out on some great designs and designers because of geography. I now decree "All wood boat plans designers shall utilize the www on behalf of us deprived landlubbers". Oh well, it was worth a try......

Hey Garland, I thought about you and Wayne when I saw his smaller boats- it only takes a little imagination to see a small cabin and you'd have a sharp little cruiser!
Sometimes the dreaming is the best part.
