I wonder if this isn't the guy who posted at the end of the GG - lots of pics thread I gave you a link to.. BlackSea in Tblisi who got sail #105?

I can't see into his site since _someone_ used up his quota recently and I have to wait until the site is available again... ;)

OK! Had a look at the site - very nice!!! wow!

There is a 2-part article reprint that comes with the plans that shows some guy building a GG in the UK that's even more detailed than this site and shows how he made and used some interesting tools to help him quickly attach the speed-strip to the hull. Basically, a sort of clamp and also a clamp with a lanyard to heave down on it with one's knee while attaching the strip.

However far I look and however much I'd like a simpler construction method, I keep coming back to the GG. The right looks, the right accomodation and all! Not sure that any construction method (aside from cold moulding) is that much faster/simpler than another, but I don't know that of my own knowledge.

I think, that if one is adventuring/voyaging, a GG might be just right for either a solo cruiser or an intimate couple (one might consider going as deck cargo across some of the blanker parts of the map - those parts that are all blue! ;) ), especially for coastal cruising!

On the other hand, if one is a beach comber at heart and not planning to go too far off shore, Dix' "Cape Henry 21" has the looks, a less decent accomodation (IMO) and a great bloody centreboard trunk thwack down the middle of the interior - but, which allows one to drag oneself right up on shore if one is so inclined (I, having beach camped before, am decidedly not! ;) ). There are kits floating around for this one too - perhaps even in Oz.
