The Editor's Page in WB mentions the Buzzard Bay 25 in his article about "More Proof of the Renaissance." I read a book printed years ago entitled "Best Boats" and the BB 25 was listed there as well. Matthew Murphy, in his article, says there is a 'private' building one in Kansas City. Many yards are turning them out as well. But I'd like to get in touch with that person in Kansas City. Anyone know who it is? And, what can you tell me about this boat.
Thanks.

'Fraid not Steve, this is NAIAD. There are quite a few in and about my harbor though, and more getting built. They are extraordinary boats, one of Herreshoff's best designs from 1914- fast, heart-stopping beauty, well balanced. Something of the holy grail right now it seems. There are a few that are sporting marconi rigs with a little lenghthening of the stern for a permanent backstay also.
I know the boats fairly well, if I can help ask away.

Todd,
Are the plans available to the general public? And if so, what skill level would be required in building it?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve, The Hart Nautical Museum at MIT holds the plans. They are available apparently. Call Kurt Hasselbalch there at 617-253-5942.
As to the skill level that, is always a hard one. Advanced would be generally accurate but your "intemediate may not be my intermediate." Many BB25s these days are being cold moulded, however I know that Taylor Allen is building a plank-on-frame one.

Finally got a couple of pictures of the new cold moulded Buzzards Bay 25 with marconi rig. She's my view in the harbor.

Sailed her this past weekend. Like a dream only better. These boats have been burning up the PHRF circuit. Nobody takes them seriously. That's a mistake.
