I have an International 14 one design that was built about 1948. The plans were drawn by Bill Lapworth and I believe it was built by Gordon Douglas. It is different in some ways from the normal International 14 in that it is a one design.
Does anyone have any more information on these boats? I have not been able to find much on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

No personal experience but a few years ago I worked with a fellow who is fairly active in the local I14 fleet. The picture on his desk showed, essentially, a rocket ship with huge sail area. It's a development class and the newer boats probably don't even look like the early vintage ones.

Owning an old Intl-14 is like owning an old Ferrari: it's rare and still exciting to drive, though not as fast as newer models, and it requires a high level of care and maintenance effort. It's not practical nor comfortable. But among those in the know, nothing tops it in "cool factor". I hope you'll cherish and care for it until the day comes when you or your descendent place it in a museum. (I have a wooden Finn-class from the same era.)
