I was searching for a figure for the weight of lead per cubic inch, and lo and behold, found the mother of all lead measurement calculators. Put in one figure in any slot you like, hit "calculate", and watch what happens.

And here's the site to measure anything else in the world:

Just in case you need help figuring ballast or something.

OR one could go to abebooks and plug in..

***Machinerys Handbook***, buy a used copy and forever after have access to all sorts of neat calculations and info on most all things mechanical.

PS: this is one of my ongoing mantras since I have been on these Forums.

Thanks - don't know the book. But I'll find a copy.

Ohmigod, go out and buy one today! Machinery's handbook is probably the one book that's indispensable to modern civilization, seriously. Look here; (http://used.addall.com/) you can get one for about $15. I wouldn't get one that's too old, but they haven't changed much. One from the '70s is just about as useful as a new one.
