Poul Gartsides design no. #128 is a nice 16' sailing dinghy which can be seen on the Poul Gartside homepage. I consider building it. Are there anybody out there who have any experience with this design. How does it perform, is it difficult to build, could it be decked?
Best regards

Why don't you ask the designers? They can tell you exactly who has bought their plans. They also participate in the background here on the forum. Both are very informative and very knowledgable and above all, nice people. Welcome to the forum. Hey, do you have some pictures of your homeland? There is a thread that is going on in Misc. of views of lands.

Paul Gartside would definitely be the man to ask. He is very helpful and very nice. The boat you are looking at is designed for glued lap ply construction. It would not seem to be too difficult.
Mr. Gartside has more designs than what is on his web page. You should ask him about something that might better suit your need.
He sent me a draft of a design he was doing for someone a while back. The boat was (is) 16.0 feet long with a beam of 6 feet 6". That is much the same as the design you are looking at. But this boat was ballasted, with an estimated weight around 1100lbs. It was (is) a small camp crusier with a gaff rig and a small cabin. How much deck are you looking for?

.....figured if he'd seen the design, he'd seen the website.......especially since the asker looks to be in Denmark.....I figured he found the design on the www. I could have been wrong though. Sorry 'bout that Norm.

Don't mind Dingo, Bruno. You should have heard the squawk when I spelled Australia with four a's.

Actually, "Gratside" is kind of cool. Google wouldn't like it though.
Shane, thanks for providing the link.
More on Betty anon.

Hi Bruno,
I am the person who commissioned Paul Gartside to do #128.
I told Paul that I wanted a fast, traditional looking daysailor. I was not concerned with cruising nor rowing ability. I also wanted a boat that could take some rough water since I would be sailing on the open Pacific.
Paul said that this boat would be seaworthy and be faster than anything short of the racing machines. Two or three people are required to hold her upright.
I find the design beatiful - just what I was after. However, I came to believe that I did not have the level of skill required to build the boat, although a competent amateur with a boat or two behind him should have no problem.
I am now building another boat, and plan on tackling #128 when I finish this one and have some experience behind me.
Hope this helps,
Walt
