My neighbor is a very good wood carver. Last spring he was invited to the NYYC and came home facinated by the halfhull collection. I gave him a copy of my lines to practice with and he just presented me with a beautiful halfhull of RUTU with padaulk bottom and holley topsides. Now he wants to do more. Where can he get lines for some of the more famous or infamous yachts?

Our sponsor has certainly published enough lines to keep even the fastest carver busy for a long time.

Librarys and used bookstores can be a good free source. I have accumulated a collection of more that 240 lines plans over the years (including most Americas Cup yachts) but I've only actually made about sixty half models. The point is...If you actively seek out sources for lines you'll run out of time long before you run our of projects.

You can also order plans from the Smithsonian, and they don't cost much.
