I have read too many magazines lately. I’m trying to find an article I read in the last few months about a shallow draft small boat with an air cooled inboard and a lifting prop. That is, the shaft has a joint and is pulled up into a trunk to bring the prop above the water line. I thought this was in WB but maybe one of the fine small craft magazines from the UK. Would someone help me, what issue was it?

Might you be thiniking of "DANELLA: A Louisiana duck-chalon," by Brandon Arbie, WB No. 171, page 22? The boat is used for duck hunting in shoal draft waters.

There was also an article on the Dispro a while back. It has the jointed shaft your are reffering to. Try the article look up thingy on the main page.

Thanks guys, DANELLA is the one I was looking for. #171 was in the reading room not the study so I missed it during my search.

The Dory shop still sells the shaft, prop and haul up systems. Kim Smith there told me they run about $1750 for the entire setup. http://www.doryshop.com/
