View Full Version : Sharpie
I'll try again here. Santa brought me a copy of Reuel Parker's "Sharpie Book" and a set of plans for the 19 ft sharpie, scaled down from Ohio Pound Net Sharpie. It looks very interesting and I am thinking about it for my first building project.
Has anyone seen, built, or sailed this boat?

I haven't sailed this one, but I've sailed a 35' New Haven Sharpie, and 18' Sharpie skiff and an Egret replica. The two-masted sharpie rig is the most manueverable I've ever sailed, but not as close-winded as the sloop rig I had on the 18-footer. Sharpies are great boats. I'd say go for it.

I've got a 40' sharpie schooner that you are wlecome to come over and look at, and go out on if possible.
I think that sharpies are the perfect boat for shoal draft areas.
