I searched through the wooden boat forum for William Garden's Eel. In some of the threads I saw a reference to a discussion about the Eel in a book by William Garden called "Yacht Designs".

A quick perusal of Wooden Boat's book section shows me that there is a "yacht Design", apparently resurrected and updated from 1976, as well as a "Yacht Designs II" both by William Garden. So, my question is:

Does anyone know if the discussion on Willianm Garden's Eel is in the newly released from 1976 "Yacht Designs" or the more recent "Yacht Designs II".

It's in the first one.

Chris,

According to the 1999 Hardcover edition, Eel is on pages 27-31 of the book "Yacht Designs". I don't own the book myself but I had a peek at the online index page at an online bookstore.

Greets, Leon Steyns.

I have a bunch of Eel stuff that I downloaded (pdf's of articles) - it's probably still available somewhere, so if you do a search of this forum for 'eel' you might turn up a link. If not then pm me with your email address and I'll send them to you.

They include the 'Yacht Design' section you're after (5 pages), a 1993 'Cruising World' article about a guy that had one built and sailed it up the coast of Canada to Alaska (3 pages), a fronpage of 'Shavings', the newsletter of the Centre for Wooden Boats with an article on 'Otter' a Garden Eel (1 page), and a nice jpeg of an Eel under sail from the bow quarter. Total size is 2.25 MB.
