Hi, this is propably more for the U.K. residents, but I'm restoring a Guy Thompson designed 30' sloop in Bristol, U.K., and I am interested in pictures of other designs by him and in general more information about him, maybe for an article.
I haven't done much work on the research yet, but as I'm on here now I better ask.
I know he is an english east coast amateur designer who apparently designed and had built a boat for him that every time was so succesfull on the racing circuit that he sold it every season and started again for the next year. He designed mostly one-offs in timber like mine, built in 1959 with a reverse sheer, called Legend, registered in Lloyds. He also designed the production boat T-31, with a fibreglass hull and traditional decks and fit-out, which you see occasionally advertised for sale. So far other boats I found on the for sale circuit is 'Yaniska', a 47' cutter and 'Foggy Dew', a plywood design, circa 30'. I would love to know whether his designs have survived him and where they are, and which other boats are still around?
