If anybody has or knows where to find any of Tom Halliday's boat designs or plans I would love to see them. He designed my boat, probably in the mid 20's or so. I've heard he may have published some designs in old magazines, but I don't have access to magazines that old. He is best known for designing the St. Roch in Vancouver, but apparently designed lots of boats includint the Spencer class and Roedde class for the Vancouver Yacht club. Thanks

OK, does anybody at least know how I could find magazines that might have been published in the Northwest in the 20's and 30's that would have boat plans in them?
Jimmy,
No luck yet. I did a search but no joy. Have you tried the fiche archives of the various Vancouver based newspapers.

yes, I have spent some quality time in the library in Vancouver. It is very difficult to find anything in old newspapers unless you know the date. There are hundreds published every year and the only index seems to be on microfiche and not very useful.

Suggestions:
try RVYC -- see if they have any archives
try 1936 as the year for newspaper searches.
"In 1936, Bill Roedde and naval architect Tom Halliday, with the aid of Burt Tupper and Jack Williams, designed and built the first of the Roedde boats. It was built at the Boeing Shipyards in Coal Harbour and christened the "Carita."

Look in the back issues of Pacific Motor Boating. They published a number of Halliday plans in the 20's.
