I would like to build a dingy for my 26' Chris Craft. I would like something in the 10' range either strip planked or lapstrake.I want a craft that would row well and not weigh too much as I may want to transport it on the transom of the larger boat. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a design that might fill this bill? Thanks.

Yep. Iain Oughtred's Gannet -- or one of his birds, anyway. Glued clinker. Photos of some at http://www.duckflat-woodenboats.com.au/boat%20pics/oughtred/Dinghies%20Gallery
Beautiful-looking craft.
Look up L.F. Herreshoff's 10-ft clinker pram as shown in one of John Gardener's books (sorry, I can't remember the title, will find out & edit this). It's a beautiful boat, rows well, has a flat sheer so it stows well on deck, and when built in cedar weighs about 95 lbs.
Gardner's Building Classic Small Craft (volume 1) has the Herreshoff pram (10') and Gardner's own plywood ten foot plywood pram.
Gardner's (More) Building Classic Small Craft (volume 2) has the Lawley (12') and the Lawton (10') tenders, and two 8' prams, one inspired by Herreshoff's Nereia Pram (cf Sensible Crusing Designs, JG says, pp170-172) and the other a shortened version of the 10' plywood pram in volume 1.
I guess I don't have to edit my comment - thanks, htom.
