I'm also very interested in the rascal by Ken Bassett. Does anyone how to contact him ? Also think it a wee little on the small side.

Hi- I don't have any contact information handy, but can tell you that I've seen a couple of the boats "in the flesh" and they are smaller than you might think. While I love the lines, and think it's one of the prettier boats in its class, at 6'5" I can't sit in it as designed. There isn't enough length between the seat back and the main bulkhead. I'm not sure you could move things enough to make it work without messing with the balance, an important factor in how the boat rides. But perhaps it would scale up by 10% without creating new challenges.

As i'm from Belgium, i don't have a phonebook availlable. Thanks anyway. The thing is, i would like to get it up to 20', so it would be a big upscale. I know there are some nice designs available, like the tahoe by Ken Hankinson. But it's the only one i've seen with an outboard engine, that's one of the things i like particularly about it. If there's anything wrong with the engine, you don't have to get the whole boat out of the water. And ofcourse those looooovly lines :D

I wrote Mr Basset, he said I could increase Rascals length my 12" so long as it was done equaly between frames. So if you did that why not stretch the cockpit forward by 18" ?
Ken Bassett is at Onion River Boatworks 802-372-5204
