I'm considering building a Stickleback Dory from Iain Oughtred plans, rigged for sail. I've had only a small amount of experience building boats - a "6-hour canoe" from Mike O'Brien's book and some volunteer work during the summer building a Sabotina pram. Has anyone built this dory and can you offer any comments? I've only heard good things so far about Oughtred's designs.

Almeyer,
I see you have not had any response to your question, so I will tell you what I can.
I have the plans, but have never built the boat. I think the plans are pretty good. And with Oughtred's book as a guide, you should be able to build it with your experience.
One reason I never built it is because I have some doubts about its sailing qualities. I don't have a lot of experience, but it seems very narrow and light. It looks like a very good row boat, and I am sure it can be sailed. But, knowing how much work is involved, I was not comfortable building this particular design for sailing.
I suggest you search for a recent thread on this issue. There were a number of comments about dories in general and also about this design.
