Without going in to specific details, does anyone out there with any experience/knowledge of Murray Peterson Schooners?

No experience, but I still drool over Silverheels in Woodenboat Vol 1 #1. http://media5.hypernet.com/~dick/ubb/smile.gif

Yea, why? LOL... Somebody asked about these recently and I posted a reply. I worked for a brokerage back in the seventies and we sold Quisset a couple of times. She was "Coaster II," if I recall correctly. I've seen a couple of others over the years. Roger Taylor's "Good Boats" book has a nice chapter on all of them. Beautiful boats and decent sailers, but their heavy traditional construction and rigging will cost a pretty penny in this day and age. Definitely room on the seas for a few more of them, though.

Peter Matheson built one 48 ft? about 3 years ago in Thurso, Scotland. Last I heard it was for sale.

In his book, "Addicted to Sail," Norrie Hoyt wrote about a trans-Atlantic passage to Scandanavia in Miss Rose Dolan's schooner, Defiance. I believe I just saw the boat for sale at

I worked on a major rebuild of Defiance in 1985. 48' centerboard schooner built by Luke in 1960.

I´m a schooner nut and went to see Defiance at Mystic Sea Port back in 1995. She was for sale at the time, and I believe she still is. I found her in a rather neglected state. I hear the decks have been renewed now, which is good. I understand she had suffered from some chronic electrolysis problem, and hence the repair job in 1985. She´s a magnificent boat and certainly worth saving.
