Here is a boat my uncle found in a barn he bought.
it is canvas covered and seems to be in great shape. we would love to know what it is and then what type of power to put on it.

Cool little skiff Chris!! I've never seen anything like it, but to me it seems to say 1930's design. That little upsweep on the forward end of the cockpit is the same as what Chris Craft did in the 1920's. (I think 1929 was the last year for it.) Are the last wo pictures of the inside(?), they are not showing up for me. Is it typical canoe construction? I'd love to see some detail pictures of the construction. You might try inquiring on the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association site WCHA (http://forums.wcha.org/) as a good number of canoe builders also built different types of boats in the 20's & 30's. Maybe someone will recognize it from an old catalog. Also specific construction details may indicate the builder. Definately a keeper!!!!!! smile.gif

We think its an oldtown. i'll see if anyone agrees with me. Hows your skiff coming. Mine is sitting neglected in the garage but the house looks great. i started a few new albums and there a bunch of pictures there of this and the other boats. Nothing new for the skiff though.
i put in a plug for our skiffs in the "pretty in ply" post. page 4

here are those pics again.

Chris, those are 'Old Town' type row locks, and the open gunwale construction is typical Old Town. Are there any numbers carved in either the stem inside, or in a stern knee over the keel? If so I'd bet she is an O.T. You can contact O.T. or post an inquiry on the WCHA forum (under s/n search) to find out when she was built & where she was originally shipped. My skiff is has been sitting as well :( I got into house painting also. Hopefully I'll take this weekend off from the house & take a step forward on the old girl. We'll see. I'd like to see your new albums, I'd also still like to put some pictures of Ghost on my album but I lost my link to yours & can't find it. Can you send me an 'invite' again. Thanks.
