I'm interested in a boat called the Luders 24. It is the bigger sister to the Luders 16, (Which has a 24ft over all length)

I found a couple of pages on the internet, but not much at all. I would be very interested in learning more about these things. From what I have seen they are sex with sails.

(I also really like the look of the Luders 16)

Thanks,

Noah

Anyone, anyone?

I really like the looks of this boat! I need to know more about them. Someone must have run into one before...

This is a picture of one:

Hi, Noah. I don't mean to leave you out here swinging in the wind all alone, but I have nothing specific to add to your quest. I've studied several of Bill Luder's designs, but not the Luders 24. Sure is a pretty boat, tho'.

Noah, I passed you post because I could not add much. I saw one at anchor once from a distance. It looked sexy. It is a larger version of the L16 (16 LWL)which was intended as a trainer for the meter classes. I was told by someone that they hobby horsed.

At one time there were three bare hot molded hull shells for L24s at Luders. When Luders finally went out of business they were offered for $1500 each. I thought about it and passed.

The L16 did not have a hollow garboard. The keel was more of a fin, with a lead shoe. I assume the L24 was the same.

The thought of those shells certianly worked me right up!

I think that it would be a perfect boat for me to sail, and they still seem to be competitive in PHRF racing. I'm betting with some good sails and new hardware you could really make one go.

Keep these little tidbits coming please.

Thanks,

Noah

Noah,

Try contacting Sarget Goodchild. When he lived in Nahant (I believe he moved several years ago), I think he sailed a Luders 24. Several years ago, he did a series in MAIB, and I think he may have a boat related web page.

Hey Noah,

I wish I could help you out, but I don't know much about the Luder 24. From the picture, it is nearly identical to the 16. There was a 16 (fiberglass hull) here at the local dry storage yard last season. It was for sale. It looked to be in need of some serious restoration, but the lines were so nice that she was very tempting. It did not take long, and she was gone. A while later I was talking to a young fellow at the local West Marine. He knew of her. He seemed to indicate that the design was a wet and rough ride (but spirited, I assume). Her decks had gone soft; she needed lots of tlc...........pretty boat though. If I'd a had I the time and cash to put into her.........
There was a picture of a restored wood Luders 16 in Wooden Boat Launchings a couple years ago.
Sorry......I know this is not much help.
