Just some photos of my progress so far.
Well, actually the're about a month out of date.
I haven't trimmed the sheer plank yet so it looks uneven.
(1st attempt posting photos, hope it works)

Whoooeeeee! That's a beauty. I really like the bright hull. Will it stay that way. I cought a fair amount of flak from a couple of neighbors whe I painted Prairie Islander and it was just strips of cedar.

I'm planning to paint it Norm, I just don't think I did a good enough job to leave it bright. I'm thinking of painting the hull white and leaving the deck and cabin clear.

Thanks John, she's a beauty! Now that you're an expert with the picture posting you've got to keep us informed with your progress. I'll get that video out to you this week. :D

Is this Wee Seal The First or Wee Seal The Second? Either way, a genuine beauty! Keep us posted!

By the way, it would help lots of us who have restricted building locations, what is the height from floor/ground to the top of the boat? How much of that is building frame? Long question made short-will Wee Seal pass through a 7 foot high garage door?

It looks like you are building this lovely boat outside in the Ontario sunshine. Now what do you do when it rains or the Canadian winter starts?
I guess your plan is to have it all done by then!?
Let us know. Dirk.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Wayne, its a Wee Seal mk.2 (as Iain puts it). I have it right side up now and it's 6 feet from the bottom of the keel to the tip of the stem, which hasn't been trimmed yet. That is the tallest point. As well there would be the thickness of the building frame. So it would be a close fit.
Dirk, it's already been through one winter and I'm thinking there will be a couple more before I'm done. I just double tarped it and there was no problems. This year, right side up, I'm planning to build a plywood roof over it and then tarp it. As far as rain, I just can't work outside. We had a drought last summer but this year I've lost a lot of days. But now with all the interior pieces, there plenty to work on in the basement.

That's a beauty. I have alway's wanted to build a bigger boat of strip plank construction. It's extremely fasinating. Looks like your doing a great job.

I have only built a Catamaran which is just being painted. It is epoxy plywood construction.

Perhaps a cedar strip canoe this winter. smile.gif
