My apologies is this has been posted before. I've run across a very cool site with reprints from "Science and Mechanics", "Boat Builder Handbook" and other old magazines. There are a bunch of designs with enough information to build from, presumably all for free. I'm about to build the "Handy Andy", a 10 foot folding dinghy found there. Articles include offsets, materials lists and text describing the building process -- lots of plywood. Imagine a ply sneak box, a budget house boat, a variety of hydro-planes, sail, cruisers, some paddle-wheels and lots more. I have no affiliation with the site owner whatever. Just came across it on a random search. Here's the link: http://www.svensons.com/boat/

It often helps if you post a link to a site you're touting! ;)

Ooops -- silly me, and I do this kind of thing for a living! I edited the original post to include the link, but here it is again: http://www.svensons.com/boat/

Apologies!

Check the large sailplan - can that hull support it?

South comes along with the daffodils of Spring and goes out with the leaves of Fall. Occasionally, in the dead of Winter (for those of you who know the real meaning of the term), South drifts through the Forum like an ice fog. So far, nobody seems to have taken a chance and built her. Possibly for very good reasons as those who understand these things have pointed out.

I remember seeing one example that had been built -- apparently it had a wicked weather helm.
